More tape unboxing videos

Hot on the the heels of the first wave of cassette "unboxing videos", we bring you... Duncan Gough's simple video of his own episode arriving, and Cowfish's excellent one of his tape, plus positive hand gestures.

Meanwhile, we're still collecting internal fridge noises, and enjoyed this advert featuring the 'fridge eye view', thoughtfully sent in by @hlame. Special thanks are due to Julian Burgess and Leo Vegoda for the videos of the insides of their fridges - we hope to rip the audio and use it in future episodes!

Buy your own tape, make a video of yourself opening the envelope, and tell us about it on Twitter or by email. And you'll hear more about this on forthcoming episodes, but - tapes bought in the next few weeks have a reasonably high chance of being illustrated by our artistic SRS guests!

Cassette tape episodes, through your letterboxes

We've been busy recording, lovingly personalising and posting out cassette tape episodes of Shift Run Stop to our supportive and adorable listeners. Being a creative lot, many of you have documented the arrival of their precious packages as the first round of tapes started start of this week (more have been recorded and will be posted in the next couple of days. They might even include some stickers).

The first video we spotted was from Ian Stopher, and uses an iMovie template you might recognise:

The second, the following day, was from Damian Jennings:

Rev Dan Catt, just hours later, posted his own video. Note the excellent use of a pencil to cue the tape:

Most recently, Myk Reeve, who didn't make a video but did take some lovely photos:

Have we missed any? Let us know. Very much looking forward to seeing more of these too.

2010: Living in the Future

For those who haven't seen it yet - this is great. Someone has scanned in a children's book from the early 70s called "2010: Living in the Future" and it's well worth a look.

It's a bit of a kids' "Things to Come", a guidebook to living in 2010 written simply because "It is fun to guess what it may be like". Some of the ideas are eerily prescient, e.g. overpopulation, the prevalence of screen-based interfaces - and he even sort of anticipates the ubiquity of the internet. Elsewhere it's a bit more wack (free public transport? no more pollution?!).

Taster video of Avery Edison and Daniel Maier

A few more audiovisual snippets from from a recent (ish) recording session with Daniel Maier, and Avery Edison who will be appearing in the Christmas and New Year special episodes respectively. We talked (of course) about comedy, TV and games.

We'll be keeping you company over your Christmas break with some extra long bumper special holiday episodes. Don't forget to join us on the 24th for episode 6 and again on the 31st for episode 7. Great guests and snacks ahoy. Let joy be unconfined.

Let’s play Granny’s Garden

Leila found this amazing walkthrough of that game we'll probably all remember from the mid 80s, Granny's Garden. We had it at school I think. I had forgotten how frustrating it was though. With the exception of the logic puzzle with the dragons, it's unbearably random.

Don't forget to clear the advert that pops up at the bottom (little 'X', top right corner) so you can see the brilliantly confused commentary.

The nuts are hurting your head!

How the sausage gets made; another video of the making of episode 5

Partly so you can hear what people are saying as well as what we look like. Partly to see if I can get video working in the podcast.

Filming episode 5

Here are some bits we recorded last night to give a flavour of what's to come next week in episode 5. A pre-tester tester, in video form. Expect the usual mini-episode tester on Thursday which will reveal more. You're seeing Russell Davies (with the beard) Dave Green (with the snacks), Leila (the female one) and Roo (the other one).

Do you like the song? We're very excited to be previewing our new Shift Run Stop theme tune. It's called "In Computers" and is by Robyn Wilder and her band Bambino Special. Yay.

Guest: David Schneider

Leila snagged David Schneider as the guest for episode 2. He's a funny man.
